Dry Run
Have been evacuated due to flooding expected from Hurricane Irene. We were given about 12 hours notice.
Although leaving home is an inconvenience, this whole experience brings attention to the fact that we should always keep a bag packed, gas in the car and a destination in mind. The Earth Changes that are now taking place are only the beginning. It is entirely probable that things will get worse before they get better.
At some point in the not-so-distant future, we may be asked to leave everything behind. We may have to walk away from all that is familiar to us and not be allowed to look back. We have to be ready to do that when the time comes. It helps if we begin now to release our attachment to our possessions, our locations, our obligations, etc.
When the "evacuation notice" comes, there can be no hesitation.

Hi G,
I couldn't agree more, having been through a natural disaster myself. Although it set us back financially and was a huge shock at the time, it was a timely wakeup call and looking back, the best experience of my life. Maybe all these disasters are sent to make us all reevaluate our lives & detach from things. Its like we're being given a gentle nudge.
All the best!
A "gentle nudge" is a good way of phrasing it. On the Atlantic Coast of the U.S., earthquake tremors and a severe storm system occuring in the space of one week should act as an eye-opener to many of those who are sleep-walking through life. Perhaps some are now beginning to recognize that something is happening. The following phrase has been heard more times than one can count:
"I've never seen/felt/heard/experienced anything like this in my entire life!" (and these are old-timers talking).
The time will come when we will have to abandon all of the things that identify us as an "I". We will be left only with what is in our hearts. We are advised to use the present time productively, in Love & Service, if we wish to ensure that what resides in our hearts will be sufficient to help transport us to The Other Shore.
Be well, D.
