What Is A Microcosm?

An explanation is necessary to show how souls originate; a somewhat doctrinal, scholastic explanation, but you will be able to follow it if you keep in mind the facts you already know.

A soul is really nothing else than a microcosm. As you know, the Gnosis teaches that the Rose of the Heart is the soul-nucleus, the central point of the microcosm. The Rose of the Heart is not some mysterious physical organ, but the mathematical center of the microcosmic sphere. Around this center, around this soul-nucleus, is a field of manifestation, an open space which in turn is enveloped by a sevenfold auric being.

Take an atom, for instance. Every atom contains a nucleus around which various electrons orbit, like planets around a sun.

Similarly, the Microcosmic Atom, too, has a nucleus with a radiation-field, a field of manifestation around which seven 'microcosmic planets' rotate -- the sevenfold auric being. And the personality develops in the open space, the radiation-field around the nucleus of the Microcosmic Atom. The nucleus, or soul, of the microcosm then associates itself with the physical heart of the personality. In this way, we can also speak of the soul of the personality, or the soul which is in the blood, for the radiating power of The Rose not only develops in the heart, but is also manifested in the blood.

All this has often given rise to confusion. An ensouling power is indeed present in our personality. However, it emanates from the nucleus of the microcosm. Hereditary factors, too, play their part in the blood and endocrine system, and all the karma that has been stored up in the microcosm comes to us from the sevenfold auric being.

So the question we now need to answer is: How does a microcosm come into being? Where does it originate?

The microcosm originates from the Fundamental Nature. As we have seen, the Divine Nature comprises a twofold current, a stream of Being and Will, of Desiring and Activity. This stream is not God, but it originates from God.

This twofold, omnipresent, all-encompassing stream of the Fundamental Nature is a mighty, very fiery astral field which fills the entire All. A human-being creates his own astral body by means of his mental activity. When you produce thought-images, these cause certain astral activities to develop in your body. This enkindling gives rise to a sparking in the astral body, with all the result of the retrograde movement.

So perhaps you will be able to understand how the Divine Cognition, which is exterior to The Fundamental Nature, irradiates the mighty astral field of the Fundamental Nature with Its thoughts. In this way, too, life-waves come into existence, they are awakened and brought into manifestation by the Divine Cognition. That is why microcosms are also called Spirit-sparks, or Divine Sparks.

So a microcosm is an astral spark originating from the Fundamental Nature. All of us are therefore linked in the closest possible way with the Fundamental Nature. A microcosm, a Spirit-spark, bears Its characteristics, because that is where the Spark has originated.

Ethers are liberated within the Spark through the desiring and willing of the mother-field, for behind the Spark is the impulsion of the Divine Thought by which the mother-field is enkindled. A life-wave bursts into the All-Manifestation as if in an explosion of astral fire, and every Spark of that fire is irradiated with the Divine Thought. The ethers generated by the Sparks concentrate around the nucleus of the Microcosmic Atom, the Rose, the Soul of the Microcosm.

In the midst of this concentration of ethers a form-manifestation arises, a system of lines-of-force which model themselves into the human form. Through this process the Divine Thought is manifested around the Rose. In this way, the etheric cloud molds itself into a reflection of the Fundamental Idea present in the mother-field. Thus the True, Original Soul-Man, in whom the soul or nucleus of the mother-field is reflected, appears in a glorified etheric form.

Since this process develops in harmonious cohesion with the Spark-igniting Divine Thought, the Divine Thought is also connected with the soul-nucleus and the being of etheric-physical substance. Thus we see how in the pre-human being a complete unity exists between Spirit and soul. On the basis of this state, the living, Adamitic soul can progress to ever higher Good and ultimately become a life-giving Spirit.

We hope all this will have given you some idea of how the microcosm comes into existence and how a human-being is formed from such a microcosm, by a quite different process of birth and maintenance.

It will now be quite easy to imagine how much this glorious, Divine process has been disturbed with respect to nature-born man. For his personality has to be born by means of the earthly process of propagation and brought into connection with an emptied, powerless microcosm. By means of this emergency-order system that we know so well, an attempt must be made to restore the former existence, at least for some time, during which the Original etheric-physical form of the Soul-man is subjected to many crystallization processes. The Soul-man, together with the microcosm surrounding him, then constitutes nothing more than a faint glimmer of the Original intention of the Logos. Hence the cry: 'Return, O sons of the fire!'

Are you a child of the fire? Is the Original, Divine Spark not active in you? Return, then, O sons of the fire! And make full use of your time!

This is why it is known that God is within you. You carry a spark of the All, which has been dormant within your microcosm for ages and that you are trying now to awaken.

The Original True Divine Man was a self-realizing entity. Being in possession of both polarities and completely harmonized with the will of the All, we had the ability to generate a glorified etheric-physical body whenever necessary, as described in the post above. When humanity fell, that ability was lost. Sexual reproduction was then introduced as a substitute method of inserting a physical personality into empty and damaged microcosms. The aim of the Path of Return is to re-establish man's ability to self-realize.

The microcosm (Soul) is meant to be the intermediary between Spirit and Body. We have lost our connection with Spirit. In order to re-connect with Spirit (and thus with the All), the microcosm must be purified. This constitutes an important phase of The Great Work.

The Transformation Of Matter

The transformation is about to begin. Those who are to evolve are even now transforming their material bodies. A new material is being generated out of the old.

Look at your bodies right now.

Be aware that they are composed of energy and information in motion. The appearance of solid flesh is an abstraction produced by your animal sense, suitable for the phase of evolution now passing. The disappearing of solid flesh occurs through a slight change in the frequency at which atoms vibrate. Have you seen water become steam? Have you seen water become ice? So will you see water as burning glass. Your body is made up largely of water. The water in you will change to resonate with the sound vibrations of the "trumpet", or voice, or signal of the God-force, which is directed intentionally upon you.

The body-change, the inner radiation which some of you now feel, is a preliminary experience to prepare you for the alchemy you are about to undergo.

As the evolving are in the process of transformation, the last of the plagues begin for the purpose of the final purification of Earth.

Where Do Cavemen Come From?

We're taught that man evolved from an ape into a caveman and then into the human being of today. School's out, have a good day.

Of course this does not accurately describe the case. It is simply what your controllers want you to believe. This post will deal with the question: where do cavemen come from?

Periodically, this planet regenerates itself. In automobile repair parlance, it undergoes a 'teardown and rebuild'. During these regularly-scheduled ending cycles, everything on the surface of the earth is utterly destroyed. Of the human-beings in existence at these times, usually a small remnant is warned in advance and moved to a place of safety, where they are spared the destruction. There will also be pockets of other humans who are allowed to survive the catastrophes despite not having advance warning. It is this second group of unfortunate human-beings that we will focus upon.

Once the smoke clears, reconstruction begins. The second surviving remnant will no longer have any technology at their disposal. They will have to live off of whatever is left on the land, using sticks and rocks. Personal hygiene goes out the window. Both women and men become hairy and unkempt. Sophisticated shelter is impossible to build without proper tools, hence the need for the caves from which they receive their name. Food is also hard to come by. Cannibalism is not an uncommon solution, as the animal and plant kingdoms are usually also devastated. This represents the dehumanized nadir for this sad remnant.

Education deteriorates, then disappears. There are no craftsmen. There is no intelligentsia. There are no leaders. The strongest, not the wisest, will rule. After three or four generations, language falls apart. Communication is reduced to grunts and screeches. In perhaps a few hundred years, you have your garden-variety caveman. The one that our vaunted modern archaeologists are so convinced 'evolved from the ape'. The sciences struggle mightily to locate the 'missing link' between man and ape. Their struggle is in vain. The 'missing link' is buried within the rubble of the many high civilizations that have undergone these repeated destructions.

The above scenario is not an isolated occurrence. It has taken place countless times. Countless civilizations have reached their zenith only to undergo destruction due to Flood or Fire. Each time, there are remnants left to rebuild from scratch. And that is where 'cavemen' come from.

This planetary cycle of death-and-rebirth is now repeating itself, except on a much grander, more cosmic scale. The stakes are so much higher and will involve billion of souls. Which remnant do you plan to be a member of? Try not to procrastinate or put off your decision. The time to board the Ark is now, before the gangplank is raised.

Choose Another Thought

"Energy follows Thought; what is focused upon, grows".

Whenever you find yourself with a thought that is not entirely pure (and by pure we mean free of selfish desire or intent) either cease to give that thought any attention or...

...choose another thought.

The former action will result in the thought fading away, dying of starvation, as it were. Because you have withdrawn your focus from that thought, it dissolves due to a lack of attention.

The latter action will obtain the same result, that is, if one chooses a thought of a higher and purer vibration. This requires a significant act of will, as one endeavors to literally evict an unwanted thought out of the head sanctuary.

Both actions are examples of conscious thinking and should be practiced every moment of every day. If we want to succeed in purifying the mental body and benefitting from what that purification can provide, we must gain control over our thinking. This should not be forced. It has to come naturally, which is why it takes practice. We must train ourselves to allow only the thoughts that will benefit our journey on the Path, and dismiss those myriads of distracting, negative thoughts that careen through our minds on a moment-to-moment basis.

On the flip side, when we consistently focus our thinking in the direction of the Gnosis, of ultimate Liberation, we will attract energies that are in-line with those thoughts. These we need not banish from our mental body, but should allow them to multiply and to grow. The beneficent effects of such thinking will be felt throughout the personality of one so directed (see The Retrograde Movement).

Catch Yourself

You get back Exactly what you send out.

So, when you send out the thought, "Why is she so hard to live with? Why is he always behaving like this?"

Ask yourself, what exactly are you doing?

Now focus here, as this is so obvious, you could miss it. And, in fact, most do.

Take away the "question" from your sentence, and essentially, you are saying:

"She is so hard to live with". "He is always behaving like this".

Do you see what you are doing?

Remember, all thought is creative...

You have just created the very behavior in that person, that you wish to change. Simply because you do not understand the Law of Radiation and Attraction.

Now, try an experiment:

Take someone in your life, that you love, but sometimes have trouble getting along with.

Think, about the thoughts you have projected about that person. The Negative thoughts. Ask yourself, does the behavior that you do not like in that person, in any way correspond to the thoughts you have been having about them? If you're honest with yourself, it's a strong bet that it does.

Sure they may have behaved that way in the first place, to make you notice that you didn't like it, but we all have off-days sometimes. The more you focus on that behavior, the more you are going to see of it. It's just Life doing what it does, and conforming to your expectations about the way it will be for you.

Now, having recognized this, what will you do about it?

Simply notice your Negative thoughts as they arise, literally "catch yourself" as you are having them. And then, simply change your perspective. Focus instead, about the things you like about this person, how you love their smile, the sound of their happy laughter; the way they do such-and-such nice thing, how helpful and loving they can be. Keep putting those positive thought out. Persevere, as you my have a bit of negative work to undo first, but just keep catching yourself, and focusing on the positive.

Then prepare yourself for an "almost magical" transformation of your circumstances.

Always monitor your thoughts, and pay attention to their Quality; because what you think about is directly related to what you will see around you, and what Life will show you. It is the difference be conscious and subconscious Creation.

You Are What You Think, And So Is The World Around You

Man is a creative being. He creates via two centers of activity: the lower and the higher. The lower creative center lies in the area of the genitals and, via cooperation between the sexes, results in the generation of a physical human shell that will unite with a returning microcosm to introduce a new personality into the physical world.

The higher creative center lies in the head sanctuary. Here the Mind creates via thought. The offspring of our thoughts are manifested in the words that we speak and in our actions.

We are going to discuss the latter creative activity - thought - which man has not learned to properly utilize. Because man does not understand the power of his thoughts, he creates in ignorance and gives birth to horrible 'creatures'.

As you may know there are several grades, or planes, of astral matter that form the universe. This Primordial astral matter is divided into seven major Cosmic Planes. Those seven Cosmic Planes are further sub-divided into seven divisions, which are, in turn, sub-sub-divided into seven more divisions and so on. In this manner, a nearly infinite number of astral sub-divisions exist in this Dualistic universe.

We will restrict this post to the 7th Cosmic Plane, the 3rd-density, physical-etheric plane that we experience in. Within this physical plane, man has bodies corresponding to all seven astral sub-divisions but is only conscious of one, the physical body. He has very little knowledge of his etheric double (the vital body), almost no knowledge of his astral body (the desire body) and is completely unaware of his mental body. Man must learn to recognize and understand these "invisible" bodies if he is ever to recognize his True Purpose or to understand the forces that are arrayed against him.

All matter is astral matter. What distinguishes the different types of astral matter is the level of vibration. Higher, Spiritual matter vibrates at an incredibly high rate. As this astral substance drops in vibration, it becomes a little less subtle. At each step-down in vibration, a slightly coarser, slightly less-spiritual plane of astral matter is extruded. This cascade effect continues until it finally reaches a nadir, a place where the vibration of astral matter is so slow that this matter almost crystallizes. This crystallization results in what we call physical atoms.

As above, so below. Just as the astral matter of the individual planes and sub-planes changes as it drops in vibration, so does the astral matter in the human-being. When a man has a thought, that thought is a living thing. The thought projects into mental matter a vibration in line with the nature of the thought. This thought-vibration is instantly transferred to the astral material of the human and thus the desire body is conditioned in a manner that is compatible with the nature of the thought. There, man has his 'feeling' about the thought.

If the desire body contains any material that resonates with the vibration of the thought, comparable etheric material is extruded from the astral body and passed to the etheric body. Here, the hormones and the nervous system cooperate to put in motion the action or actions that will correspond with the original thought-feeling. Because the etheric body is the matrix that vitalizes the physical shell, the physical body is infused with the etheric distillation of the original thought-vibration created in the astral matter of the mental body.

So we have thought initiating desire, desire initiating activity, activity manifesting in the material of the physical body. This all happens in the space of a microsecond. You should understand that it is via this pathway that Thought moves and conditions the Physical Body.

The above is the most rudimentary and simplified outline of what is actually a vast subject. However, it is enough to give those with discernment something to pause and consider.

All physical illness is the direct result of consistent and habitual poor thinking. From the smallest pimple to the most devastating cancer, it is our Thinking that constitutes the root cause of all disease. From the least of our actions to the most significant, it is Thought that conceives and gives birth to the Act.

Abuse of the lower creative function manifesting as sexual indiscretion and promiscuity has led to disastrous results for mankind. Broken homes, dysfunctional childhoods and rampant sexually-transmitted diseases plague mankind. Abuse of the higher creative function via selfish and corrupt thinking has resulted in a world where control by The Few perpetuates war, poverty, famine and disease.

Thought is the horse that draws the cart. Everything within us and around us is a direct result of both our individual and collective thought processes. In order to change things we must break the habit of mechanically acting upon the thoughts that "pop into our heads", and learn to think consciously. We must re-direct our thoughts away from the selfish and the vengeful, to thoughts of unselfishness and Love for all, no matter who they may be. It is not the outer personality of an entity that matters, but the Soul-spark within that we must honor.

Think before you allow your thoughts to give birth to any act in this world. Do not continue to contribute to mankind's misery with your poor thinking. Purify your thinking and you will purify your mental body, your emotional body, your etheric body and the physical body. You will radiate a more purified aura and thereby benefit your fellow man and the earth. Oh, and one's personal health will benefit as well, for the low-vibrating viruses that cause disease cannot survive in an aura of high vibration. This all begins with the vigilant policing of our thoughts.

Learn to Think, truly.

The Gnosis And Your Way Of Life

What should we do to ensure that our pupilship will lead to more practical results, to Liberation, to the reality of Renewal? We should take into serious account the fact that our lives are so interwoven with society and the establishment that we cannot just withdraw from it.

The gnostic will have to take his place in social life. That goes without saying. However, it will be with the proviso that he is able to perform his work with complete integrity and honesty. An example may clarify this point. In modern business life we more often than not encounter all kinds of dishonest practices. You could probably tell some tales about this yourself. It is one of the primary causes of the decline of social life. Commerce start from a desire for possession, not so much the desire to possess what is useful and necessary for one's own life, as well as a desire which is exercised as a kind of sport.

So the Great Wound from which mankind is bleeding to death is the spirit of commerce, which is a spirit of evil. For what happens? The intellect is used to find markets, and when they have been found and businesses set up, then the markets must be kept open, whatever the cost. This even goes on at an international level, even if it would cost millions of lives. If anyone investigates the causes of many wars, or the origins of the First and Second World Wars, his heart will stop with terror. Businessmen* control the state, they control religion and philosophy. In short, they make sure that everything serves their own ends.

If you become involved in all that, you will not only be engaging in dishonest practices, but you will be corrupting the entire personality. If you have to think about how you can make a profit, and you are willing to employ unscrupulous practices to achieve this, the direction of your thoughts will have an immediate, detrimental effect on your astral vehicle. Your astral vehicle will be brought into harmony with your corrupt thoughts and desires, and this, in turn, will result in the attunement of your entire blood-state.

So you will understand that, if this kind of behavior is practiced, pupilship may well be possible in a philanthropical sense: you may be able to attend meetings and conferences, read a book and talk about the Gnosis, but what good will it do you? You must win Freedom! You must win the Fullness of Eternity! That is what the School is there for!

That is why you really need to consider your way of life. In situations like the one we have described, your pupilship may not be entirely useless, but it will never bring you Liberation. Anyone who, as a businessman, does not conduct himself in an absolutely honest and upright fashion, in keeping with the norms of the School, harms the Living Body and himself. If you are in business, if you have your own business, then see it in the same light as craftsmen saw their trade in former times. Do not conduct your business to become rich quickly, for then your Soul will suffer, particularly in a School like ours. And if you cannot escape this dilemma, choose another job.

We also feel that one should not accept posts in companies involved in any way in harming the world and mankind. Arms factories, for instance, would not be acceptable, and neither would laboratories involved in nuclear tests and similar things. In our opinion, posts in such places should not be accepted by pupils of the Spiritual School. Even simply writing a letter or holding a telephone conversation can, by its nature and by the kind of thoughts and feelings activated, damage the astral body very seriously indeed.

Be that as it may, every one of us needs to reflect on these things and arrive at a decision. This will be easy if the decision is made on the basis of the Living Soul-state. Your thoughts must be pure, your intellectual consciousness must be completely cleansed. If not, then you will be making your pupilship into an illusion. Parents should take care that the education their children receive serves to protect their receptivity to the merciful help of the Gnosis. It is important to preserve this receptivity from degeneration and harm, before it is too late.

For remember that ordinary life in society can become a deadly danger, particularly for those who strive for the Gnosis. That is why the modern Spiritual School and its pupils need to concern themselves with the problem of social functions, to protect the School and its pupils' lives from being made unnecessarily difficult.

In this connection, it would be good to draw your attention to the question of fear. Many people are living in fear; they are anxious about everything and more. They are afraid to break with what is immoral, afraid of situations which are not good, and fall below the norms they usually set themselves. In the light of the hermetic axiom: 'Receiving all things, Relinquishing all things, Renewing all things', such an attitude of fear is quite out-of-place. If one lives in accordance with one's principles, in harmony with one's Soul-power, in keeping with the requirements of the Liberating Life, there is no need to worry oneself about anything.

Fear is a delusion. If you stand in the Soul, not a hair on your head will be touched without the will of your heavenly Father. That is why the Sermon on the Mount commands: "Do not be anxious. Seek first the Kingdom of God within you and His Righteousness, and all other things will be added unto you". Anxiety, Worry and Fear seriously damage the astral vehicle and make it open to demons, so that one's pupilship becomes an illusion.

Another important point is conservatism, which is perhaps still present in you. You are unable or unwilling to let go of everything that does not serve the Great Aim. Conservatism takes different forms in different people. We only wish to say that detachment, which is so necessary, is not yet absolute in you. Your attachment to things, to matter, to money perhaps, to situations, to people, insofar as it exceeds the norms of the Gnosis, harms the astral body, with all the results of that. The astral body is very fiery and with that fire you can burn yourself and affect others too, with unholiness.

The thought-life of the candidate stands as a critical aspect in the process of Soul Rebirth. If our daily occupations require us to think in a way that ultimately results in harm to others, then we will not make much progress on the Path. All of us should take stock of what we do for a "living" to ensure that we are not involved in something that will ultimately hold us back on the Path of Return. A man who owns a liquor store may think that he harms no one, but nothing could be further from the truth. Bankers introduce and abstract artificial stress into the world through their usurious practices (i.e., the charging of interest). Untold damage has been done to humanity via the stranglehold that international banking holds upon all aspects of human existence.

Whatever occupation you may find yourself in, try to conduct yourself as the Gnosis dictates:

The Gnosis In The Present-Day

In former times groups were very isolated. They had no access to modern means of communication, or to present-day methods of gaining publicity. Thus, their material radius of action was very narrow. So one cannot help but express amazement that the Bogomils, for instance, were able to influence the whole of the Balkans in their time, and even large areas of Russia, and that for a long time the Cathars were the leading group in almost the whole South of France, where their influence surpassed that of the official church. It is also quite astonishing to know how, later on, the idea and the mission of the Rosicrucians spread like lightening over the whole of Europe , even though at the time the journey from Calw to Haarlem, for instance, seemed like a world tour. How was it possible for the message of the Rosycross to travel to the north so quickly in those days, and to be answered equally rapidly?

We would like to try to answer this question, and to show how it was possible, without any of the means of publicity or communication available to us nowadays, for the Gnosis to begin its work practically simultaneously all around the Mediterranean, and for it to spread like rays in all directions. Such a development would not be possible nowadays.

Well, the ancient brotherhoods followed a certain strategy. Certain individual participants in the Great Work possessed higher faculties, and a number of these travelled to areas where the Work had to be established, in accordance with specific plans. All the brothers and sisters responsible for leading the Work possessed higher faculties. Wherever they found themselves, they were able to remain in telepathic, intuitive contact with each other. In addition, they were able to take up Soul-contact with each other during the hours of sleep. In this way, a splendid coordination of the entire Work was ensured in advance.

Further, it is interesting to note that the racial body of the man of the masses was, in those days, not nearly as dense or crystallized as it is now. Also, people lived then in the peace and quietness of medieval times. Nowadays, we can hardly imagine such conditions. The people of that period were still open, because the cognitive faculty, the intellectual brain-consciousness, had not yet become defiled. Also, the astral sphere had not yet become as dark as it is now. And when the persecutions came, by the State in alliance with the church, and by the church in alliance with the State, many were able to slip through the nets and continue to work in various other ways. So there has never been one day or one hour in the course of history when the Holy Work has been interrupted.

We are saying all this to show you that the hermetic Way of Life can be conducted without many disturbances. To the extent that the group of pupils of the young Gnosis makes progress in the manifestation of salvation, it will be possible to discuss all  this in greater detail. The group will always be able to carry out the Work, under all circumstances and without attracting undue attention. So the question now is: how can we, in these modern times, adapt our way of life so that it complies with the minimum requirements, whilst taking all circumstances in consideration? This question raises the problem of a New Way of Life to which the group will have to become accustomed to in the coming years. We need to reflect on the underlying principle of this future Way of Life, through which our group will need to proceed until the Glorious End is reached, taking into consideration all the current conditions, all the aspects of our modern times, without becoming absorbed by the nature-of-death.

Sons Of The Fire

An explanation is necessary to show how Souls originate, a somewhat doctrinal, scholastic explanation, but you will be able to follow if you keep in mind the facts you already know.

A Soul is really nothing else than a microcosm. As you know, the Gnosis teaches that the Rose of the Heart is the Soul-nucleus, the central point of the microcosm. The Rose of the Heart is not some mysterious physical organ, but the mathematical center of the microcosmic sphere. Around this center, around this Soul-nucleus, is a field of manifestation, an open space which in turn is enveloped by the sevenfold auric being.

Take an atom for instance.* Every atom contains a nucleus around which various electrons orbit, like planets around a sun.

Similarly, the microcosmic Atom, too, has a nucleus with a radiation-field, a field of manifestation around which seven 'microcosmic planets' rotate -- the sevenfold auric being. And the personality develops in the open space, the radiation-field around the nucleus of the microcosmic Atom. The nucleus, or Soul, of the microcosm then associates itself with the heart of the personality. In this way, one can also speak of the Soul of the personality, or the Soul which is in the blood, for the radiative power not only develops in the heart but is also manifested in the blood.

All this has often given rise to confusion. An ensouling power is indeed present in our personality. However, it emanates from the nucleus of the microcosm. Hereditary factors, too, play their part in the blood and endocrine system, and all the karma that has been stored up in the microcosm comes to us from the sevenfold auric being.

So the question we now need to answer is: How does a microcosm come into being? Where does it originate?

The microcosm originates from the Fundamental Nature. As we have seen, the Divine Nature comprises a twofold current, a stream of being and will, of desiring and activity. This stream is not God, but it originates from God.

This twofold, omnipresent, all-encompassing stream of the Fundamental Nature is a mighty, very fiery astral field which fills the entire All. A human-being creates his own astral body by means of his mental activity. When you produce thought-images, these cause certain astral activities to develop in your body. This enkindling then gives rise to a sparking in the astral body, with all the result of the retrograde movement.

So perhaps you will be able to understand how the Divine Cognition, which is exterior to the Fundamental Nature, irradiates the mighty astral field of the Fundamental Nature with Its thoughts. In this way, astral sparks, astral flames come into being in the Fundamental Nature . In this way, too, life-waves come into existence; they are awakened and brought into manifestation by the Divine Cognition. That is why microcosms are also called Spirit-sparks or Divine Sparks.

So a microcosm is an astral spark originating from the Fundamental Nature. All of us are therefore linked in the closest possible way with the Fundamental Nature. A microcosm, a Spirit-spark, bears Its characteristics, because that is where the Spark has originated.

Ethers are liberated with the Spark through the desiring and willing of the mother-field, for behind the Spark is the impulsion of the Divine Thought by which the mother-field is enkindled. A life-wave bursts into the All-Manifestation as if in an explosion of astral fire, and every Spark of that fire is irradiated with the Divine Thought. The ethers generated by the Sparks concentrate around the nucleus of the microcosmic Atom, the Rose, the Soul of the microcosm.

In the midst of this concentration of ethers a form-manifestation arises, a system of lines of force which model themselves into the human form. Through this process the Divine Thought is manifested around The Rose. In this way, the etheric cloud molds itself into a reflection of the Fundamental Idea present in the mother-field. Thus the true, Original Soul-man, in whom the Soul or nucleus of the mother-field is reflected, appears in a glorified etheric form.

Since this process develops in harmonious cohesion with the Spark-igniting Divine Thought, the Divine Thought is also connected with the Soul-nucleus and the being of etheric-physical substance. Thus we see how, in the pre-human being a complete unity exists between Spirit and Soul. On the basis of this state, the living, Adamitic Soul can progress to ever higher good and ultimately become a life-giving Spirit.

We hope that all of this will have given you some idea of how the microcosm comes into existence and how a human being is formed from such a microcosm, by a quite different process of birth and maintenance.

It will now be easy to imagine how much this glorious, Divine process has been disturbed with respect to nature-born man. For his personality has to be born by means of the earthly process of propagation and brought into connection with an emptied, powerless microcosm. By means of this emergency-order system we know so well, an attempt must be made to restore the former existence, at least for some time, during which the Original etheric-physical form of the Soul-man is subjected to many crystallization processes. The Soul-man, together with the microcosm surrounding him, then constitute nothing more than a faint glimmer of the Original intention of the Logos. Hence, the cry, "Return, O Sons of the Fire!".

Are you not a Child of the Fire? Is the Original, Divine Spark not active in you? Return the, O Sons of the Fire! And make full use of your time!

The Original Man was a self-creating entity. Sexual intercourse was not required in order to generate a new personality. Doing so was simply a matter of Will, exercised in cooperation with the Divine Plan of the Logos. This self-created Divine Personality was of a glorified nature, blessed with powers and attributes beyond the imagination of most. Before we can deal with the central issue of our discussions, we must emphasize that the problem of the New Way of Life only applies to those who are Soul-born and who, with a pure heart, have established the link between the new Soul-forces and the intellectual brain consciousness, and in this way are in control of it. Without this control it is not yet possible to strive for astral purity and it will not be possible for the pupil to withdraw from evil and follow the Only Good. The circulation of gnostic Light-forces in the candidate's system must first be ensured. That is the central issue of every truly gnostic development.

The foundation must be a life of earnest striving and yearning for liberation. When we become genuinely seeking people , our thoughts result in an astral activity. It is impossible to yearn for the Gnosis without a corresponding effect on your thoughts. If a genuinely seeking longing is present in you, the resulting mental activity will in turn give rise to an astral activity in your system, which will be manifested outwardly as well as inwardly. When a New Power has been ignited in the astral field of the human system, a light is produced which radiates inwards as well as outwards. In the midst of the microcosm a fiery tension develops, a light-field in keeping with the desires of the pupil , this light-field extracts and assimilates gnostic light-power.

So if a pupil perseveres in his yearning and striving, in spite of all the unavoidable hindrances, the concentrated light-power will touch the center of the heart sanctuary; it will break through into the heart sanctuary and mingle with the blood. The blood, now charged in this way, then flows through the brain and influences various centers in the head sanctuary, including a number of latent ones. What matters now is whether the brain system with its various centers will be able to react to this intervention, to the gnostic influences introduced into it by the blood. If it can, then a new kind of thinking will come into being in the head sanctuary. This new development of the intellectual brain consciousness will in turn influence the astral body.

This is how the astral body is purified. You can only purify the astral body through a new thinking born of the blood. Then, new astral forces are liberated, which then differentiate into the four pure ethers, the four holy foods. These ethers affect the etheric body and go out to all the organs and fluids in the physical body that make us  live and act, until finally, they are manifested once more in the blood.

That is how the circulation comes about. The process begins in the blood, is manifested in the mentality, then in the astral body, then in the etheric body, and then again in the physical sheath and in the blood. Thus, as a result of this new ensoulment, the Gnosis gains control over the pupil's entire system. If this tenfold process has been brought about by a way of life orientated towards it, it will be possible to maintain this way of life without the need to force anything. When the circulation of gnostic light-forces, which the ancient Chinese Gnosis called 'the retrograde movement', has been born in the system, you will have not the slightest difficulty in preserving the gnostic Way of Life.

Once a candidate begins to sincerely and consistently seeks liberation from matter, he or she will attract gnostic light-forces. Not the false light-power of the aeons, which are of this world, but the divine light-power that originates in the Sixth Cosmic Domain.

The reason for this is simple. Like attracts like. Thoughts of escaping this nature-order are diametrically-opposed to the thoughts one has if one is thoroughly content with this nature-order.  Thoughts of liberation from matter vibrate differently than those of the common nature-born person. They act as a beacon, seeking a like vibration, which can be found in the divine light-forces of The Sixth.

The Gnosis, this Divine vibration, then "breaks into the system" as it were. It enters via the heart sanctuary and instantly begins to infuse the blood with its electromagnetic power. We know that all blood passes through the heart on its way to different regions of the body. Thus it stands to reason that the blood will carry this New Vibration throughout the human system, starting with the head sanctuary.

Nature-born man is completely subservient to the aeonic forces that control the physical realm. As such, the microcosm, which is a magnetic system, will only attract those impressions that agree with this nature-order. In order to attract the Light-force that will be needed to purify the microcosm and enable the birth of the New Soul, the candidate must change his or her thinking and begin longing for that which is not-of-this-world. If one can persevere in developing this yearning, it is a cosmic fact that one will attract the forces of the Gnosis into the system and partake of the benefits derived therefrom.

A warning to those who dare. You must be sincere. God will not be mocked. To accept the Gnosis without the intent to do all that is necessary to advance on the Path and complete The Great Work may result in a burning of the astral vehicle. One must sincerely count the cost before taking that first step on the Path. The question to be asked: "am I prepared to leave everything of this nature-order behind, both good and bad, and not turn back, for any reason?".

If the answer to that question is a firm 'yes', then you are ready.
